This really just works as your typical building game. Throughout the course of the game you’ll unlock new things such as buildings and challenges and a heap of other stuff. I mean, it would be pretty weird if you were playing SIM City: Cluedo Edition. It’s a pretty simple concept really but hey, it’s a building strategy game so you don’t really need any epic plot lines or twists in it.

Your task now is to build settlements for your little minions and with that, grow them to become strong enough to force their way through the portals and into Valhalla, doing this grants you and your Vikings honour which again grants a free pass into Viking heaven by shoving your honour straight down Odin’s throat. Naturally rather than setting up a University fund for the kid to become an architect, mainly because from what I imagine Valhalla’s University prospects aren’t too great unless you want a degree in slaughtering, drinking or pillaging, Odin decides to banish his child from Valhalla, Viking heaven, and lock the doors to anyone who has spent their life doing the good and moral thing by setting fire to villages and murdering innocent people, because that’s what gets you into heaven if you’re a Viking. Turns out his little bundle of joy has taken an interest in creating things rather than just getting wasted and destroying as much as he possibly can, a bit of a contrast to my own life. Our story begins with Odin, the Viking chief god who has decided to become a huge jerk to people because he’s having baby issues. I have to say that this is a strange game to review because it has so much potential and overall was fantastic (except for a few little problems that I’ll get to below). It’s a recent release and is available via Steam for all to enjoy the pillaging and destruction that comes with Viking culture. The game is very enjoyable and closest anybody has come to old Settlers and Cultures games.Īdding picture of Viking card open with amount of Honor gained and current map im playing.Valhalla Hills is the new building strategy game developed by Funatics which combines the winning combination of Vikings and SIM City into one loveable game. So you can play some really momentous maps that will take several hours to beat. Or if you wan't to you can play an open game with all the buildings, map sizes, enemies and ressources unlocked. You can play the game with progression which means you unlock new buildings and options by playing mapps and defeating Portal guardians and other enemeies (Ice Guards, Wolf, Bears, Skeletons, etc.). The food from Kitchen (aka sandwiches) keeps them fedd for longest time. Also every feed satisfies their food needs differently. But since Dome Dwarves appeared I will probably gain a lot of honor fighting on this map.Īlso as soulsorce mentioned already, you have to feed all your Vikings which can present quite some challenge since the game has real time (althoug speeded up) night/day cylcle so your Vikings sleep, work and eat and also occasionally talk between themselves. So for one of your Vikings to ascend to Valhalla you will need quit a lot maps played :) Im on map 10 and still far away.

In order to Ascend to Valhalla they need to gain enough Honor which they gain by doing things and especially when fighting (they are Vikings afterall). There are only random generated maps in the game since the goal off the game is for you too build up your economy and make your Vikings strong enough to defeat all the dangers when they climp up the Valhalla Hills. 4 buildings I think, farm > mill > bakery > kitchenĥ. How many maps / islands are available in the campaign? 1. How many different resources / items exist in the game? How many different occupations / jobs are available to my vikings? How many different types of buildings can player build? Procne: I'm having trouble finding answers for those questions, so I'm asking here:
